Puppy Weight Chart

Puppy Weight Gain

The puppies in the litter are weighed twice daily for the first week and, once a day during the second week, then 3 times in week 3 and once a  week during weeks 4-7. The following 2 graphs show typical weight of puppies from birth to day 7 and from day 7 to 8.5 weeks of age.  There are 2 lines in each chart indicating typical minimum and maximum weights. The typical weight gain of a puppy falls between these two lines from birth to turn in.  Typical puppy weights at birth are 8 to 14 ounces although some will weigh less and others more.  Small pups (less than 8 ozs) should be monitored to ensure weight gain and may need to be supplemented (bottle fed) with goats milk.  Goats milk can be obtained at the CCI vet clinic or purchased at your local grocery store.  Make sure to get regular goats milk (NOT low fat or skim milk).
